[RS] 390118 – 9S93 1643 London Euston – Edinburgh Waverley (2016)
15th May 2023Hello, this is one ‘standard’ scenario for the fantastic ‘WCML Midlands & Northwest’ route which is available from ATS.
Length: Approximately. 75 minutes.
>Installation:
To install, simply extract the .zip file using whichever software you have and copy the ‘Content’ folder to your RailWorks install “usually” found here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks
>Scenario Guide:
You begin this scenario, rather unusually, at Wolverhampton where you are going to work 9S93 as far as Preston calling at Crewe, Warrington and Wigan on route. This service would usually originate from London Euston but following a smashed windscreen on 390122 earlier in the day which has led to a shortage of sets, control decided to start this service from Wolverhampton using a fresh set which ran ECS from Oxley depot. A detailed manual with links to everything you required is included with the download, please take your time to look through it. Please note, due to stability issues, static AI has been left out of yards and depots although this shouldn’t detract from the scenario.

Hi John,
Great to have you back and a cracking scenario. I have just one issue that is probably something to do with my settings as I have not run many scenarios with SKY 2 pack or read the forums on known issues.
When the storm kicks in, sky gets gradually darker, the rain starts and then when I reach stafford the sky goes Jet Black – like its the middle of the night – does not look right at all.
I have AP Sky 2 which I then updated and so reran the scenario but still the same effect.
Sky then went back to normal on route to crewe. Is there a setting im missing or a patch for running the SKY 2 pack – any advice musch appreciated 🙂
Hi Stu, thank you very much for your comment and feedback on the scenario. Firstly I’m really glad you enjoyed it, but I apologise you’re having an issue with the AP Sky and Weather EP 2.0. I can’t say I’ve come across this issue personally so I’m unsure what I can suggest to you 🙁 My settings in game as just as they are suggested in the manual from AP on page 3, have you matched your in game settings to the same? That’s the only real thing I can suggest Stu other than taking a screenshot or two when you’re driving next time and possibly contacting AP themselves to see if they can shed any light on what it might be. Hope it didn’t detract from the scenario too much for you and if you manage to fix it, or if it happens on any future scenarios from me please let me know.
Cheers Stu. Regards, John 🙂
John, You were exactly right…. as with 99% of faults I should have remembered the ATS moto… “READ THE MANUAL”! Thanks very much for your help 🙂
Stu, that’s great to hear! Delighted it’s sorted it for you and you’re very welcome, happy I was able to help 🙂
Regards,
John.
Hi John, Great to see you back .
Just ran this beauty and can’t thank you enough for sharing it with us all.
The whole scenario worked perfectly and the run into Preston alongside the Northern 156 was just the perfect ending, the timing of your Ai is just amazing.
Thanks again
Craig
Craig, thank you so much for your comment and kind words, really appreciate it. It’s great to be back making scenarios again, even better when people enjoy them. Delighted you found the run and AI timings enjoyable. Thanks again Craig.
Regards,
John.
Really eager to play this scenario but I keep getting the goddamn OOM dump a few seconds after it loads…!
Same unfortunately. I’ve tried lowering my settings and clearing cache etc but dumps probably 20-30 seconds in.
Don’t know why as others seem to be able to run it just fine…! -_-
Chris, Tom,
Sorry to hear you’ve been experiencing the dreaded OOM issue with this one, the route can become fairly unstable when you’re running over a large part of it and get over 20 AI in it. I’ll have a look tomorrow morning and see if there’s one or two AI I can remove without affecting the functionality of the scenario to hopefully enable you both to play it. I’ll keep you posted.
Regards,
John.
Any update on the fix at all?
Enjoyed this one, but I don’t have AP Weather V2 yet, just V1, so the weather patterns were a bit …….odd…… no problem to me though, will keep this one against the day when I add cross AP’s palm with £20 for V2. Always worth running your scenarios – thanks for posting.
By the way, the link to your “other creations” is constantly giving “Web server is returning an unknown error” and “error code 520”.
Thank you very much for your feedback, appreciate it. Not having V2 of the Weather pack wont have affected it that much, you just wont have experienced the changes in weather that were planned. Really glad you still enjoyed it though. I’m not sure why that link has stopped working, it used to. I’ll try something different in my next one, thanks for letting me know.
Cheers,
John.
The “odd” weather patterns were occasional flashes (or slightly longer) changes from grey skies with clouds to blue skies with clouds and back again – I’ve seen it before on occasions in other scenarios – it doesn’t detract at all from a good scenario.
He’s back, and with a scenario of the typical quality! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much for your comment and feedback Frankoi, appreciate it. Really glad you found it enjoyable!
Regards,
John.
Hi John, It is so good to see you back, have missed your excellent scenarios. This one was no exception, faultless and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Thank you. Best regards, Barrie.
Barrie, thank you so much for your comment and feedback, as always, I really do appreciate it. It’s great to be back making scenarios again. I’m delighted you enjoyed this one and all worked as it should. Hopefully plenty more to come soon. Thanks again for your comment and hope you’re well Barrie.
Regards,
John.
Not bad for an 80 year old John, I hope that you are well too. Thank you.
This was a very well put together scenario sir, especially loved the use of the stormy weather. However, unfortunately I was unable to complete it, all was well until I left Crewe & approaching Winsford the freight train on the down slow got priority over me & I had to stop at a red. Hence lost about 4 minutes & got crosses for the Warrington BQ pick up & the Wigan pick up because of the delay 🙁
That’s really frustrating for you sir and I’m terribly sorry that happened on your play through 🙁 That freight (4M28) was specifically planned to be held for you before Winsford which worked fine in testing. It has now been removed from the scenario to save any further issues. Thank you for the feedback sir, appreciate it and glad (that aside from that) you enjoyed it and the weather too.
Kind Regards,
John.
It’s alright, just one of those things. It was a good job really I was alert, when I saw the back end of the containers I went into the cab head out view to see what was on the front, it was only when I was passing it (at 120+) that I saw my next signal was double yellow! managed to stop at the red by a hairline lol.
