In 1998 North Western Trains introduced a new Manchester Airport/Rochdale to London Euston service, in order to run this service they sub-leased Class 322 units from WAGN of which 2 were painted in the NWT livery.
Unfortunately the service turned out to be rather unsuccessful and the Manchester Airport to London Service ceasing in 1999 after of which the 322s subsequently moved between operators retaining the NWT livery till refurbishment by First Scotrail.
