BR Breakdown Train

BR Breakdown Train

BR Mk1 BG and BSK repainted into warning yellow as worn (in the Eighties and beyond) by coaches converted to departmental use as a breakdown train. The converted BSK [designated QPA] was utilised as a dormitory coach, providing accommodation and cooking/washing facilities for crews at the work site. It seems that a depot usually had two breakdown trains; one consisting of Brake Van, Dormitory Coach and Tool Van was coupled to a 75 Ton Steam or Diesel Crane and used mainly on planned projects but ready in case of a catastrophic derailment. The more commonly used breakdown train, as depicted in this pack, consisted of a Dormitory Coach and Tool Van. Repaint of BMG Class 47 into BR Departmental ‘Dutch’ livery also included. Requires BMG Welsh Marches Line from Steam.
