DESCRIPTION:
After being awarded the Cross Country franchise in 2007, Arriva took on a number of HST sets to provide extra capacity across their routes. These being predominantly, ex-Midland Mainline examples, the sets were unrefurbished and still sported their classic Valenta engines. By the time of the Summer 2008 service change, there was not enough time to press these sets out into service post-refurb so Valenta power reigned for one more Summer only. On a scorching August afternoon, take the helm of 43104 at Derby, with 43166 on the rear, and drive as far as Sheffield with service 9S66 from Penzance to Dundee. Year: 2008
