1M81 18:14 Bournemouth to Manchester Piccadilly (1998)

20th December 2023 6 By Bill Dalton

This scenario takes place on DTG’s South Western Mainline: Southampton to Bournemouth Route.

During the summer of 1998, Class 47 unreliability meant Virgin CrossCountry was forced to substitute with alternatives on some of its loco-hauled services. On the 18th July, 37198 was hired in, and diagrammed onto 1M81 Bournemouth – Manchester Piccadilly, a service which had also been worked by Class 31s recently!
You will work the service as far as Southampton Central.
