The Whitehaven – Huddersfield TPOs are direct descendants of the Carnforth and Whitehaven Sorting Carriage. The function of the Carnforth and Whitehaven SC was to provide a connection out of the North Western Night Down TPO for destinations along the Furness Railway.

At Preston, you relieve the driver from Huddersfield who informs you that 31413 failed at Manchester Victoria and you will drag it and the TPO with 37009. Load the mail here at Preston and then head north.

Your load is light, as this is the last summer of this TPOs operation. The staff in the sorting coach will let you know where you need to stop along the way. Get your coffee and enjoy the sunrise along the Cumbrian coast!
