You begin this scenario having just taken over control of Virgin’s 1M34 the 17:00 from Glasgow Central to London Euston. Unusually, 87022 is leading this southbound service this afternoon after the DVT, 82149, suffered a TDM fault at Glasgow. 87022 was dispatched from Polmadie depot and bolted to the front of 1M34 to work it forward. You will now work 1M34 from Carlisle to Preston on a showery evening. Your journey time is expected to be a little longer than usual due to running at a reduced speed of 100mph as you have a rake of mk2 stock in tow. Loved this scenario. A good “backstory” (broken down train) and very true to life traffic made it very immersive. I really appreciate the timings weren’t overtight so I could take time and do everything properly and not in a rush. Add to that the 87 is one of my favourites. I always like to make the timings achievable on TS scenarios and especially when you’re driving something that requires a little more skill than a modern unit and where there’s a chance of wheelslip, I tend to be quite laxed on the timings.
