(Brad) 2C39 15.57 Liverpool Lime Street – Millom [142]

29th October 2023 2 By Bradleigh Ennis

During the early days of the Northern Rail franchise, there would be a direct Monday to Friday service from Liverpool Lime Street to Barrow in Furness, with the train being extended to Millom on Saturdays. This train ran up until the May 2009 timetable change.

Its 2008, its an incredibly warm evening but unforunately for you, not only are you rostered to work but due to a shortage of drivers (most on their holidays probably!) you’ve been asked to work the train throughout to Millom from Preston… and to make matters worse, the booked Class 156 was failed at Liverpool and a spare 142 was on standby which control had no other option but to allocate for the service.

Take charge of the 16.56 departure from Preston, calling at all stations to Millom where you will then perform the 5C39 back to Barrow in Furness where the unit will work another service to Millom later on in the day.
