London Underground Class 483

London Underground Class 483

19th April 2023 0 By Alistair Cowell

The 1938 Tube Stock were built by Metro-Cammell from 1938 to 1940 for use on the London Underground where
they worked for nearly fifty years. In the late 1980s, twenty withdrawn 1938 Tube Stock cars were rebuilt
at BR Eastleigh Works to become 2-car Class 483 units, for use on the Isle of Wight Line which entered
service in 1989.

This is the Class 483 unit in London Underground livery, with the interiors fully repainted and includes
matrix destination displays to make this unit look more modern. This train includes destinations for the
Central and Jubilee lines.
