After suffering a ruptured coolant tank which lead to excessive smoke and a loss of power, 43003 spluttered to a halt near Ivybridge whilst operating 1C88 15:05 PAD – PNZ. After being assisted by 43036 and 43142 as far as Plymouth, the service was terminated short there and a replacement HST set was rostered from Laira depot to pick up the remainder of the service. You are the driver for this replacement ‘hot’ set and in control for the final leg of the journey through to Penzance. You have VP-185 powered 43191 and Valenta-engined 43091 at your disposal.
