1250 Darlington to Middleton-in-Teesdale
17th February 2024Just after lunch, you’ll be driving a stopping service to Middleton-in-Teesdale with a Class 101 unit. Remember to exchange single line tokens at the correct locations. Year: 1963.
55-minute scenario for Weardale & Teesdale network on Steam.
Requirements:
Armstrong Powerhouse (and their dependencies):
– Weather EP V2;
– Class 37 Vol 2;
– Class 101/117/121 SP [discontinued].
Steam:
– ECML South;
– Weardale & Teesdale Network.
This isn’t a 100% accurate recreation of the traffic that would be seen on the line in the early 1960s due to my collection not having that many steam engines in it (which at this point were being replaced by diesels anyway). Also, the only timetable I have access to at the moment is the public passenger one, so if you have any Working Timetables (passenger and freight) around Darlington during the early 1960s, let me know!
An excellent scenario thank you
I agree with David, a great scenario on a really nice route. Love driving the first generation DMU’s with the manual gear changes. Thank you.
Thanks! Having more first-gen units like the Class 108 would be really nice.
Smashing wee drive on one of my favourite routes that never gets the attention it deserves from scenario creators. Maybe a couple more trains meeting a passing loops would add to it but still a nice little drive.
Thanks! The scenario is set in 1963, just before the Beeching Axe, so services on the line were run-down to nearly nothing. Maybe I could’ve added a short p-way train.
The problem with this route is that source for working timetables are hard to find since the route is set in the 1950s/60s, so WTTs from the area are sparse (the ones I could find cover the main ECML). Maybe one day, I’ll find a few 🙂
