(WM) MML Spotting “Trent Jct” (2019)
1st October 2021After quite a few hours spent over few weeks on freightlocate finally found a busy Trent junction with a mix of ( freight / passenger services (Ontime & delayed) which took place on (29/11/2019). More details including all the train workings that took place between 17:08 – 18;30 can be found in the scenario folder “once downloaded”. Finally in the past i have created 3 other train spotting scenarios at Doncaster, Sheffield, Chesterfield which can be found on ATS
I liked the scenario so much that I made a little video about it 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfKQ1r_JYPo&feature=youtu.be
Great to hear!
Im looking forward to viewing this. At this time I was a Guard for XC Trains and after checking my records Ive realised I was working the 1619 Birmingham – Notts and 1810 back to Cardiff. So hopefully my train (170522 170523) can be seen on here!
I don’t normally run trainspotting scenarios, but this one intrigued me as I can (scarily) remember doing this for real in around 1964/65. The junction was even more complicated than it is now, with an island platform station between the main up and down running lines, accessed only by a dirt path across the tracks to the eastern end of the platform, there were also 3 freight loops on either side. A double track line curved sharply away to the inside of the Erewash Valley line and looped back to Long Eaton station (then called Sawley Junction) with another from the Nottingham direction, passing under the “high” line and joining the Erewash Valley line slightly to the north of Trent – JT have represented part of the disused trackbed of both.
The station staff were pretty inhospitable – we had arrived by train and were immediately told to leave the platform until we needed to depart, even though we offered to buy platform tickets, but that we could stand on the footpath beyond the end of the platform as it was technically a public right of way! I can sort of see their point now as the station could easily have become swamped with kids trainspotting if they had been made welcome or even tolerated.
