Virgin Trains First Generation Class 47 Sound / Physics Patch
18th May 2021This patch is for the Class 47 included with Dovetail Games’ Virgin Trains First Generation Loco Add-On [discontinued] to improve the driving physics of the locomotive and use sounds from Armstrong Powerhouse’s Class 47 Sound Pack (Pro). Options are also included to use some improved sounds from Armstrong Powerhouse’s Wherry Lines Route.
Please note that if you drive using the in-game HUD, the visual AWS warning button does not appear. Unfortunately this is an issue with the base model and not unique to this patch.

Sorry to bump this, but i was wondering if you would be willing to tell me what values i need to alter in the files to alter the acceleration please? I can get my way around TS Tools quite well, so have some knowledge of how to use it.
Thanks
Terrone.
Hi I really appreciate this patch, but I was wondering if there are any patches out there that add the AP mk2 sounds onto the DTG virgin ones? thanks.
Thanks for the comment Ewan. In response to your question, not to my knowledge. I would just swap out the DTG Mk2s for the AP ones since they are superior in every way. There is a Virgin branding patch for those made by Vulcan Productions which can be found under their “Electric” downloads (also applies branding to the AP 86 EP and AP 90/DVT pack).
Thank you so very much for giving the 47 a new lease of life. The old VT sounds made me think I was sitting in the engine room.
Great patch Thanks.
On a side note anyone else having problems with some of VP 47 reskins
e.g. BR Blue Pack(Pre 1985)
Virgin Trains Farewell pack
The installer starts but then hangs, I run as admin & virus software turned off.
Other VP reskins install fine. It’s frustrating as their reskins are very good.
Can you do the same for the 47s on WCML over Shap?, many pleases 😉
Unfortunately the answer is likely to be no, since they use the old Kuju model I’m not very inclined to spend time on it. I’ll think about it, but it will be low priority if I do. Sorry to disappoint.
I second this. I never got the first generation pack in time before it was removed, and that shap 47 is the best we’ve got but the sounds are pretty awful.
Great patch and really appreciate your work. I have a question though, how can I get this patch to work on the many reskins of the 47/8 that are available (I have most if not all of them) ?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Mark, thank you for the appreciation. I did toy with the idea of including a guide on how to make it compatible with reskins but decided against it since it requires some knowledge of how to edit .bin files. I do however have permission from Backdated Train Sim to patch theirs and will be working on that. I hope to also get permission from VP to do the same for theirs which I think will pretty much cover everything available.
Brilliant, thanks so much for getting back.
Dont forget backdated train sim have a load of 47s
thank you thank you thank you ive been waiting for this forever to be honest AP should have done this
I don’t know if there were commercial issues stopping AP doing it because of the Virgin licensing or not, or whether they have a full loco pack in the pipeline. I hope you enjoy the patch anyway!
Thank you for this that’s all i have to say
Not a problem, I hope you enjoy it!
