On September 21st 2022 Locomotive Services Limited operated Rail Tour service 1Z62 ‘The Ayrliner’, running from Crewe to Stranraer. Traction was LSL’s 86101 ‘Sir William A. Stanier’ pulling 7 Mk1 and 1 Mk2 coach. 47828 was attached to the rear to assist on the non-electrified sections of this trip. At Carlisle 86101 was replaced by 20107 and 20096.

This is a pack of two scenarios recreating the journey from Crewe to Carlisle.

In part one you are to take the train from Crewe to Preston on the West Coast Mainline – Midlands and North West route, calling at Warrington Bank Quay and Wigan North Western along the way.

In part two you continue from Preston to Carlisle on the West Coast Main Line Over Shap route, with Lancaster being the only intermediate stop.

You may experience some wheel slip, so stay alert.

Please do not ‘TAB’ any signals! Your maximum permitted speed is 95mph.

This is what I call a ‘real time’ scenario. This means all services are running, as far as possible, according to the times documented on https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk, including delays and cancellations. As long as the information was available and applicable I used the appropriate vehicles and vehicle numbers for player and AI trains.

In this particular scenario I made the following replacements due to vehicles not being available in TS:
– Class 68 in place of Class 88
– Class 158 in place of Class 195
– Class 323 in place of Class 331
– Class 802 in place of Class 397
