8F06 Newport Docks to Llanwern [Class 08] (2002)
7th February 2022In the 2000s Class 08s were used along with Class 60s or 66s to transport steel between Llanwern Steelworks and Newport Docks. On an evening in June 2002 you will bring back empty steel wagons to Llanwern. Your train has already been prepared at Newport Alexandra Dock Junction. I really enjoyed playing this scenario keep up the good work
Thank you very much!
Take a look at this. It’s not quite your scenario but shows use of the Courtybella Sidings for freight from Newport Docks to Margam and vice versa: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:H20477/2022-02-11/detailed
Seems logical. At least nowadays with different stock they don’t even seem to do shunting at ADJ at all for the Newport to Llanwern runs: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:H20476/2022-02-11/detailed
I need to solve the mystery how they did with the class 08/09s… 😉
Very nice, Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Would you be up for expanding on this fab scenario by actually starting at t Newport Docks so we could make use of that stretch of line, and then making use of the head shunt in order to get the wagons back into the sidings before heading off for Llanwern?
I tried to start at the steel terminal at Newport Docks but unfortunately there seems to be a signalling glitch at ADJ coming from the docks. Also I have no idea about the shunting procedures in real life – do they go into Courtybella Loop and then into the west sidings?
I don’t know but looking at the layout it would seem perfectly plausible! I’m sure if you asked on ATS Facebook you’d probably get a sensible response. I just made a quick scenario coming out of the docks and it works if you TAB (to SPAD) when you get to the signal.
