1Y48 17:37 Fort William To Helensburgh Upper

1Y48 17:37 Fort William To Helensburgh Upper

16th April 2019 4 By BiteSizeScenarios

This scenario will take approximately 190 minutes (3hr 10m) to complete.

On a clear summers evening sometime in the second half of the 80’s you are taking control of 1Y48, a Class 37 hauled passenger run forming the 16:05 Mallaig to Fort William service.
In this run you will be driving the train from Fort William as far as Helensburgh Upper calling at all stations along the way.
It’s expected that you will be running around 5 minutes late by the time you reach Helensburgh Upper, allocations published revised timetables based on DMU’s running the service before they had even tested them, so there is no way a loco hauled service can meet the times set on the timetable!
Your goal will be to carry out the journey as efficiently as possible (without speeding!) so you are not left having to make up too much time on the next leg of the journey.
With constantly changing speed limits and gradients you will need to stay alert throughout this journey.

This run has been based on accurate train times from the Scotrail timetable (9 Dec 2018 – 18 May 2019) and verified against Realtime Trains, realistically you will most likely be around 5 minutes late when you reach Helensburgh Upper as this current timetable used is based on a DMU running on it.
