Take over this summer Sunday service in 1997 when trains between New Street and the WCML were diverted and dragged by diesels via Nuneaton due to engineering works between Coventry and Wolverhampton. You will be switching locos at a busy Nuneaton and drive the service as far as Stafford. Good luck!

This summer, engineering works are scheduled on Sundays both south and north of Birmingham New Street, which is why almost all WCML services to and from Birmingham are diverted via the non-electrified line to Nuneaton where they join the Trent Valley line.

Electric cross country and Euston-bound services are dragged by 47s (and a Bescot 37 today due to loco shortage) between New Street and Nuneaton. 1S52 for Edinburgh will therefore have its loco change here at Nuneaton instead of New Street.
