This is a repaint of the Class 423 unit to represent the Class 305 EMU in Regional Railways livery with ScotRail branding, intended for use on the Edinburgh to North Berwick route. This train has unit and vehicle numbering taken from the Class 305 fleet that were used by BR ScotRail.

This train has been fitted with a pantograph, allowing it to be used on overhead electrified routes. It is not intended to be used on third-rail routes. The maximum speed for this Class 423 reskin is 75 mph.
