Oldham Footex (1994) – 1T40 10:00 Shaw – Wembley Central

30th May 2024 3 By Harrebarrevarre

On the 10th of april 1994, for the FA cup semi-final derby against Manchester United, Oldham FC organised a Footex service to Wembley using the Pilkington K-set. 47500 started from Shaw that morning and was swapped for 86430 at Stafford. That sunday, engineering works along the TV route diverted all west coast traffic to the Birmingham lines. You join 1T40 at a busy Stechford for the run down to Wembley Central (arr. 13:45), and then into Wembley Sidings to prepare for tonight’s return after the dramatic 1-1 match.
