Class 90 First ScotRail
31st July 2022The Caledonian Sleeper… the Anglo-Scottish overnight hotel on wheels. Used to be run by whoever held the ScotRail franchise. If you cast your mind back to First ScotRail, you’ll remember they didn’t have any Class 90s. EWS did though, so what better way to run maroon locos on blue Barbie stock. Oh, there was a better way. Paint a trio of 90s blue, and slap on the Barbie swoosh vinyls. Badabing, badaboom.
Did the research, and was amazed to find how similar they all were. Only differences were 019 started off with a passenger beam (different shaped buffers at each end because reasons), and all of them had their front OHL flashes in a different place. By the end of their tenure, they looked pretty similar, which made it a heck of a lot easier for us.
Come to think of it, there’s 4 leccy hauled Cally services a night, so 3 locos were never going to cut it… what was the point in that? Not uncommon to see a red leccy or maroon leccy up at the front (even the Ex-Sybic 90 did it). I suppose for the Highland portions they didn’t have FSR 67s, would have been interesting to see, mind.
What’s Included?
– Ex-works and weathered variants
– Accurate detail and variation between each loco
– Improved default head/marker/tail light appearance
and more!
Requirements
– AP: Class 90/MK3 DVT Pack
Instructions
– A detailed manual is included with the full pack details and instructions you need, please read it carefully!
Credits
– Clowes – As always, all sorts of nice-looking stuff, the swooshy bits being at the top of the list. It probably looks easy, it wasn’t, sorry Clowes… Also did some scripting bits, manual bits, and testing. Probably something else as well that I’ve missed.
– Jake Fuller – Drawhook models
Lovely stuff! Is there anyway to make custom consists without using the base game as that crashes?
TS Tools is a great way to do that.
After you have TS Tools installed (and the game directory path set) you will have to do the following steps:
1. Click on Options > Preload Folder. This can be an existing Preload folder or one than you create yourself.
2. (Only for rolling stock you haven’t generated an index file for) Click on Edit Assets/Content > Asset Editor. Select the folder for each of the rolling stock you wish to add to the list and click Add to List. When you are finished click on Save List and save it either in the Reports or IndexFiles folder of TS Tools. You can have all the stock you want in the same list or create a list for each stock/combination, it’s all up to you.
3. Click on QD Files > Build QD Consists or Fragments. (Don’t worry if you get the “You do not appear to have generated an Index.csv file” message, this means there simply isn’t a list – from step 2 – in the IndexFiles folder). In the new window that opens, click on Files > Select Index File and pick what list you want from step 2. Now you will be able to add the rolling stock to the consist. You can double click on it to add. If you want to flip the stock, click on Add & Edit Consists > Flip Selected. When you are done click on Build Consists > Build QD Consist. Add the required information (consist name, locomotive type, consist type). Select a route to which the consist is bound. Please note that if the route has AI spawn points in Quick Drive, your consist will be added to the AI trains pool. So if you do not wish for it to be spawned in Quick Drive, then just add it to a route with no AI spawn points.
4. That’s it, you now get to enjoy creating consists without the silly game crashes.
Note: If you wish to check an existing consist (usually for multiple units – in order to see which coaches are flipped in the original formation), click on QD Files > Check or Edit existing QD consists and fragments, then head to the folder of the consist and click on Find QD consists in selected folder. Select one of the found consist and click on Edit selected QD consist. This option can also be used to add and remove certain consists from routes with AI spawning points, if you wish to replace the original stock with more realistic or more modern stock (eg. Portsmouth Direct Line, Liverpool to Manchester, Chatham Main Line etc.)
