Scenario – [1990] 1F21 06.39 Westbury – London Paddington
Route – Just Trains – South Western Expressways – Reading
Traction – Network SouthEast Class 50 50037 ‘Illustrious’ + 10 Mark 1/2s
Track Covered – Westbury to Reading
Date – 25 May 1990
Season – Summer
Weather – Mist (thick)
Duration – 80 minutes

As morning breaks over Berks and Hants, it is also the end of an era, the era of class 50 operations on the Great Western Main Line. With only weeks left before transferral to Network SouthEast’s West of England Division to run on the Waterloo and Exeter route, you will be driving 50037 ‘Illustrious’ on the up morning commuter train from Westbury to Paddington. You will only cover the first leg of the journey between Westbury and Reading where another driver will take over.

Your calling points are: Westbury (06:39), Pewsey (06:59), Bedwyn (07:10), Hungerford (07:17), Kintbury (07:22), Newbury (07:32), Thatcham (07:38), Theale (07:47), Reading West (07:54) and Reading (07:57).

Your train is vacuum-braked so the locomotive should be in the vacuum (passenger) brake mode. It is strongly suggested that you aim to stop at the HST 2+8 stop marker, as your train consists of 10 Mk1/2 coaches and will be unable to fit at most stations.

This scenario comes in two versions, v1.0 uses the discontinued Network SouthEast 117 that has since been withdrawn from the Steam Marketplace however version v1.1 removes this DLC requirement so those who were unable to get the NSE 117 can still play this scenario.

REQUIREMENTS:

I have divided the requirements list into four categories: payware – essential, freeware – essential, payware – optional, freeware – optional. Essential means it is required for the scenario to function properly whereas optional is not compulsory (e.g. static consists) but having it will allow the scenario to be more immersive. See the read me for all links to these items.
