In August of 2023 60103 “Flying Scotsman” visited the Bluebell Railway. As with most heritage railways tickets were sold for a round trip behind the world-famous locomotive. In 2023 the train consisted of 7 of the Bluebell’s corridor stock and either their Great Northern or London North Western Saloon coach.

Due to the length of the train, it was stored overnight in three portions in the carriage sidings at Sheffield Park. In this scenario, which is intended to be the first of a complete set of scenarios replicating Scotsman’s visit, you will be in charge of Bluebell resident “Fenchurch”, which functioned as Sheffield Park Station Pilot during the visit.

I have tried to make the scenario as realistic as possible, in terms of the rolling stock used and movements made, but certain vehicles are not available and so I hope suitable substitutes have been made to give the correct effect. (For example, “100-Seater” coach 1098 is represented by an LBSCR vehicle, and LMS BGZ 32975 is in Maroon rather than Pullman livery). Some poetic licence has also been taken, for example the Saloon coach was added onto the train just prior to departure, having loaded with passengers in the Up Dock, but as this would mean sitting around for somewhere like forty minutes I have just included it in the initial formation of the train).

Finally, I have also attempted to make the static rolling stock as accurate as possible. This has meant much time studying videos from the event as I was not there myself. There are some vehicles that I have been unable to fully identify, and these have been omitted. Likewise, vehicles in the carriage shed (and loco shed) I have left out, as I do not know what they are. If you have any information or details, then please let me know!
