Is there a minimum computer specification required?

Windows 10 64bit, and Train Simulator 2020 64bit, plus a free USB port.

Is there any setup or configuration required?

The door panel has been designed to work straight out of the box after installing the included software. No complex setup of configuration for each train is required. This has been done for you.

Does it work with all add-ons such as Armstrong Powerhouse and Just Trains?

Generally yes. The software has been specifically programmed and tested to work with most UK add-ons and also many worldwide trains. Every week, new add-ons are tested and added to the supported list which can be found here: Compatibility Matrix

Does it work with Train Sim World or Train Sim World 2?

Partially. The Door panel box is programmed to use keyboard commands to open and close doors on TSW/TSW2. The panel lights turn on/off depending on which buttons you press. It is effectively only acting as a keyboard emulator so it works, but the lights can get out of sync with TSW/TS” as there is no programming interface feedback unlike TS2020. Dovetail Games have said they will support external controllers in a future release of TSW2. When that is ready, the controller should be fully compatible.

How about external controller support in TSW2?

Dovetail Games announced they will provide support for external controllers in a future release of TSW2. They are currently working on a programming interface to enable 2-way controller communication similar to TS2020. When this is released we will be working on support as soon as possible.

Does it work on consoles?

Unfortunately not, as the provided software is required for interfacing.

What does the included software do?

The software included with the Door panel hardware provides the interfacing between the hardware and the Train simulator 2020 software. This software has ben programmed and developed for an easy to use experience, meaning the unit should work straight out of the box with all your favourite ad-ons, without the need for any complicated setup or configuration. The software also provides other features such as button brightness adjustment, and auto updates and downloads for new versions.

What does each button and switch do?

The unit contains 7 illuminated buttons and optionally a DRA rotary switch. Each button provides illuminated feedback, such as Interlock status or doors open, just like a real cab.

· Door Open buttons– These open doors on all train. Both are required to be pressed at the same time just like in real life for confirmation.

· Door close buttons – These only work on trains which allow it, many trains you are not able to manually close the doors. For these cases, you are able to assign the door close button with different functions such as DSD reset, sand, cab light, and more coming soon.

· Signal bell/buzzer. This is the driver to guard signal button.

· DRA switch rotary switch -Drivers reminder appliance. This is used as an aid for the driver, and cuts the power when turned on.

Does it need an internet connection?

Not normally no. An internet connection is required if you want to use the automatic updates of the software and firmware.

What is firmware?

Firmware is the software, or programming code, inside the door Panel controller itself. This may be updated occasionally to provide new features or improvements.

How long is the warranty?

The door panel comes with a 1 year return-to-base warranty. The unit uses hand picked high quality components, with the push buttons for example being rated at a life of 1,000,000 presses.

Where is the unit made?

All TS Controllers/Alan Thomson Sim hardware products are proudly hand made in the UK in small batches. This ensures quality and reliability.

When are other products such as the Power brake controller being released?

Development of the PBC is at an advanced stage, although no firm release dates have been set yet. Other products will be researched when the PBC development is completed.
