Description
Much of the South Wales Main Line was built between the 1830s and 1880s, originally trains to and from England ran via Chepstow, eventually joining the Great Western Main Line at Swindon. A more direct route was needed, leading to the construction of the Severn Tunnel which was completed in 1886.
Fast forward to the 21st century and the line between Swindon and Cardiff Central was electrified, as part of a wider scheme for the Great Western Main Line. This permitted the operation of electric traction between Cardiff and London, these services commencing in 2020.
In various iterations, the route from Bristol to Cardiff and Swansea has been a popular choice in Train Simulator Classic and the South Wales Mainline Modern route has brought it right into the present day.
This pack contains six scenarios for the ATS South Wales Mainline Modern route, concentrating on the eastern half between Bristol and Cardiff and covering operations from the summer of 2022 – adding over five hours of driving time to the sim.
