Description
The history of the British sleeping car dates back to the 19th century, with the first appearing in 1838. Fast forward to the 21st century and of what once was an extensive network of sleeper services covering almost the whole of the UK, there are now just two operators remaining – Great Western Railway with the ‘Night Riviera’ between London and Penzance, and the Caledonian Sleeper services between London and Scotland. The latter underwent an upgrade in 2019, with the introduction into service of a brand new fleet of Mk5 vehicles – a marked upgrade on the Mk2/Mk3 stock used previously on anglo-scottish services. Virtual sleeper trains in Train Simulator Classic also benefitted indirectly, with the release of the MaxTracks Mk5 Coaches, available from the ATS store page. To use these to advantage, this pack contains five scenarios for the WCML South PLUS Northampton Loop route, covering present day operations with Class 92 locomotives – adding six hours of driving time to the roster.
