XCRoute Birmingham to Bristol
25th January 2019The Cross Country route is a long distance railway in the UK which runs from Cornwall to Scotland via Bristol, Birmingham, Derby, Sheffield and the north east. It features some of the longest passenger journeys by train such as Aberdeen to Penzance.
XCRoute depicts part of this route. Recreated is all of the following;
– A 90 mile section of the Cross Country route between Bristol Temple Meads and Birmingham New Street
– The 45 mile Gloucester to Newport line along the west side of the river Severn. An important link between the West Midlands and South Wales.

Would love to give this route a go. I have all the extras apart from the “Branded South Wales Coastal”
Humble no longer has it…
I believe it was bundled with TS2017 however so far ive been unable to find a copy.
Anybody out there who could help out???
TIA
Too many addons, required. Waste of money to get all requirements.
I don’t know why you can’t just make the route like DTG does. It’s utterly stupid
Reason being, using as many addons as Pete has allows for far more scope in route building which is especially important when aiming for accuracy. Secondly, custom assets to replace the ones used here cost money. 3D modelers, scripters, scenario authors etc etc don’t work for peanuts and their time is precious…
…and third – this route is free – stop being so bloody entitled, ungrateful, and rude… Don’t like it – don’t download it!
The RSC folder in the Assets folder contains a Rail Network folder, but no route for it to go in.
So using QuickDrive on XCRoute, if i leave Bristol heading to Birmingham it sends me into Gloucester. First time i did this it derailed me with invisible buffers halfway down the platform, but i tried again and realised you stop, switch ends and head out the way you came in the direction of Birmingham. After this however it sends you to Worcester, and then it sends you on towards Hereford. If you then try and restart at Worcester to go to Birmingham there is no route option to go to Birmingham.
However, if going Birmingham to Bristol, from platform 8a at least, it sends you direct to Bristol, not via Worcester or Gloucester.
Am I missing something or is this intended?
i also have missing platforms and ground textures missing
what am i missing?
i’ve finally managed to get the route listed in-game as the installer didn’t install it. So now the train runs, but……i have no track all, Bristol it seems is missing, Gloucester is there, ish, Birmingham is there sort of. I have all the essential DLC but it’s such a disappointment. Fingers crossed as i learn more about this game i might be able to work out what is going wrong.
I have now solved this (using a tip from a DTG forum member) by buying TS2017 from Humble, which gives the correct South Wales version. A few things still missing, mostly speed info, but at last, took me two days to solve this.
Just wanted to say I really enjoyed this route thanks for building it
Hello i have downloaded all essential and additional packs and i still have missing scenery and i am quite confused why the route isn’t fully loaded in. It could be that i have installed the packs incorrectly and if so could i have some guidance please. Thanks
is your scenery density up to full in your settings
Yes, i also did an assets check on TS Tools and everything was missing even though i own every requirement, its like the assets are not being applied to the route?? Very frustrating, i even deleted everything and reinstalled everything and nothing worked.
when i run the batch file it says the system cannot find the path specified???
I would love to get this route, but at the moment it’s a HUGE pain because of the massive amount of requirements, especially Jetgriff’s Birmingham 2010 v7.1 which requires UKTS items that are no longer available. I’m now having to message him personally to see if he can send them to me. Hopefully this route can be updated to use the new Cross City route instead and thus reduce the number of freeware requirements.
I looked up Birmingham 2010. It’s not actually too bad. There are a few missing items, in the newest of the items from UKTS (ironically). which makes me wonder if they got consolidated into a pack somewhere. The affected items are “Containers” (31336), “Vending Machines” (31339), “Toilets” (31406), “Trollies” (31410), and “Diarama4” (31481). Also affected is DPSimulation’s route building pack (30377), which is now available free through his site and not at UKTS (at 17 MB, not a bad idea). For those not able to locate those (typically someone who has them), they are scenic elements and will not impact the play of the route – that is, unless you really gotta go to the loo at the station.
The one thing that will definitely be a hurdle is the fact that the route demands the old branded SWC version. Not a problem is you find a 2017 key. Without that, a bit challenging. It might be a good idea to change the assets to the unbranded one and include a patch file for those with the branded route. I do not know if this would extend the line to Swansea, which might not make sense from a route diagram standpoint, but may be useful for freight operations. The requirement for Class 66 pack 1 also concerns me; I read that as the v1 RSDL version, and I suspect all three Class 66 packs here might be better replaced by an AP requirement for the EP. Trading three for one isn’t bad. The only reason not to change to the EP would be if there is a livery from UKTS 30618 not in the EP that requires the original version and would not work with the EP, but it’s based on the v2 Freightliner anyway. Fixing up the DTG 220 and 221 (NWC model perhaps?) may also be useful, particularly the 220, which is no longer sold and replicated instead by JT’s Voyager Advanced, and I think the 221 Arriva is also in there with DTG’s 221 now being WCML South.
Hey, I bought this route from your website. I’ve installed all of the required assets and own all required routes (and the OHLE) but I’m getting a lot of floating aspect signals along the route. Do you which asset it is that I’m missing/isn’t working? Thanks.
Will it be possible in the future for a version of the route to feature the old Bromsgrove Station and the pre-electrified section between Barnt Green & Bromsgrove to capture numerous, unspoiled scenes on the Lickey Incline? Also would be great to have this route extend north-east of Birmingham New St towards Tamworth, Burton-on-Trent & Derby and even a diversion route to Gloucester & Cheltenham Spa via Chippenham, Swindon & Golden Valley Line.
Do I need to buy both versions of the NLL DLC for the route to work or will just the newer version (NLL+GOBLIN) suffice on its own?
