Scottish Scenario Pack 3

Scottish Scenario Pack 3

8th October 2020 3 By CWilson4747

With the Covid-19 pandemic still rife within the UK, I’ve taken it upon myself to use my free time in creating another pack that I hope you all will enjoy. Once again I have focused on Scotland for this pack, being where I am from the added knowledge of the routes and services around Scotland helps especially in times where travelling isn’t possible! This is my third pack based around Scotland with the first and second packs being still
available and linked here: (Scottish Scenario Pack 1: https://alanthomsonsim.com/?download=scottish-scenario-pack-1 Scottish Scenario Pack 2: https://alanthomsonsim.com/?download=suburban-glasgow-scenario-pack-scottish-scenario-pack-2 ) The first pack is similar to this one where it focused on services throughout Scotland whereas the second was set solely on the great Suburban Glasgow route. This pack focuses on a bit of everything, from short stopping services on the Fife Circle to long distance non-stop Intercity services as well as a first time freight scenario!

With all my scenarios a read me will be provided, and as usual a little bit of background will be given before going into the meat of the scenario as well as the requirements to run it. This pack consists of the most scenarios I’ve created for one of my packs with nearly 16 hours worth of scenarios spread out over 14 detailed scenarios ranging from 30 minutes to 115 minutes long so there is a good deal of variety in this pack no matter what you enjoy driving!

Now onto the Scenarios themselves, more information will be found in the read me’s of each Scenario, such as requirements and additional background information, but I thought I’d give you a little taster of what you can expect from each!

1. Scenario Title: 1A41- 0530- Edinburgh- Aberdeen
Train: Scotrail Inter7City HST
Route: JustTrains: Scottish East Coast Mainline
Date of the Scenario: July 2020
Length of the Scenario: 80 Minutes
Background:
Today you will be operating the early morning 05:30 Scotrail service from Edinburgh to Aberdeen. You will be taking the Inter7City HST set from Edinburgh as far as Dundee, where another driver will take over from you. On your run up to the City of Discovery you will be calling at Haymarket, Inverkeithing, Kirkcaldy, Markinch, Ladybank, Cupar, Leuchars and Dundee. Traffic will be light as you are operating one of the first services of the day, however, there will be plenty of ECS moves with stock getting into place in time for the morning peak as well as some passenger services the further into the scenario you get.

2. Scenario Title: 1B06- 0536- Inverness- Edinburgh
Train: Class 158
Route: Fife Circle- Edinburgh- Dunfermline
Date of the Scenario: December 2019
Length of the Scenario: 50 Minutes
Background:
Today you are taking a Class 158 from Thornton North Junction to Edinburgh operating 1B06 the 0536 early morning departure from Inverness to Edinburgh. Once you have set up the train you will call at Kirkcaldy, Inverkeithing, Edinburgh Gateway, Haymarket, and Edinburgh Waverley. Snow is falling so watch out for wheelslip! Traffic is busy with rush hour having just finished so there may be delays throughout the journey.

3. Scenario Title: 1E30- 1818- Aberdeen- Leeds
Train: LNER HST
Route: JustTrains: Newcastle- Edinburgh
Date of the Scenario: June 2019
Length of the Scenario: 105 Minutes
Background:
With the withdrawal of the HSTs from the East Coast quickly approaching tonight you will be operating the last south bound service of the night from Edinburgh, the 1818 from Aberdeen to Leeds. You will take over the train at Edinburgh and will take the service down the East Coast Mainline calling at Dunbar, Berwick upon Tweed, Alnmouth, Morpeth and Newcastle where another driver will take over.

4. Scenario Title: 1M12- 1137- Glasgow Central- London Euston
Train: Class 390
Route: WCML North
Date of the Scenario: September 2019
Length of the Scenario: 70 Minutes
Background:
Today you are driving 1M12, the 1137 Virgin Trains service from Glasgow Central to London Euston, you will be taking the train on the first leg of its journey between Glasgow Central and Carlisle. There are no scheduled stops along the way so you should have a fast run down the West Coast Mainline. Traffic will be busy today as it is a weekend of East Coast Mainline diversions, with the East Coast Mainline being closed north of Newcastle services bound for Scotland need to use the Newcastle to Carlisle line before heading up the West Coast
Mainline to Edinburgh. Along with the final time Virgin run during the East Coast Mainline diverts it will also be the final time LNER’s HSTs run up the West Coast Mainline, due to their withdrawal at the end of the year, so do keep your eye out for unfamiliar traffic!

5. Scenario Title: 1N80- 0713- Kirkcaldy- Glasgow Queen Street (2018)
Train: Class 170
Route: Edinburgh- Glasgow Electrified
Date of the Scenario: April 2018
Length of the Scenario: 55 Minutes
Background:
Today you will be driving 1N80 the 07:13 service from Kirkcaldy to Glasgow Queen Street, significantly being the only service to operate from Fife to Glasgow and operating via the Dalmeny Curve. You will pick up the service at Winchburgh Junction before calling at Linlithgow, Falkirk Grahamston, Camelon, Lenzie, Bishopbriggs and Glasgow Queen Street. There are a lot of services about today with the morning peak being in full swing so do be mindful of yellow and red signals along the way and watch out for wheelslip as the April showers find themselves in Central Scotland! This scenario was created thanks to the backdated timetables found on DPSimulation.

6. Scenario Title: 1P46- 1628- Dunblane- Edinburgh Waverley (2018)
Train: Class 365
Route: Edinburgh- Glasgow Electrified
Date of the Scenario: December 2018 (Set in Spring in-game to avoid the snow)
Length of the Scenario: 50 Minutes
Background:
With the December timetable change in 2018 the 10 loaned Class 365s Scotrail acquired were moved from running in a pair on the Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street line to the Dunblane services. With enough Class 385s ready for service a full 385 line up on the E-G had begun, this left the Class 365s surplus to requirement, so they were placed on the Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street to Dunblane services operating as single 4 car units, giving the Dunblane service a needed capacity boost from their usual 2 car 158s. You will take over the
scenario just before Larbert where you will set up the train before taking the service into Larbert before heading to Edinburgh calling at Camelon, Falkirk Grahamston, Polmont, Linlithgow, Edinburgh Park, Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverley. This scenario was created thanks to the backdated timetables found on DPSimulation.

7. Scenario Title: 1S23- 1530- London Kings Cross- Glasgow Central
Train: Class 91
Route: Suburban Glasgow
Date of the Scenario: May 2019
Length of the Scenario: 70 Minutes
Background:
Today you are taking this service on the final leg of the journey from Edinburgh to Glasgow Central, you will be calling at Haymarket, Motherwell and Glasgow Central. It is a lovely summers evening however there has been signaling problems down south on the West Coast Mainline so services are disrupted, so be vigilant of yellows and reds beyond Carstairs.

8. Scenario Title: 1V56- 0748- Glasgow Central- Plymouth
Train: Class 220
Route: Suburban Glasgow
Date of the Scenario: August 2020
Length of the Scenario: 75 Minutes
Background:
With CrossCountry operating fewer services to and from Glasgow Central due to the Covid-19 Pandemic today you will be operating one of the few services from Glasgow to Plymouth. On a journey that will call at 25 stations across the UK you will call at the first 3 stations on the 10 hour journey for this Voyager. You will be calling at Motherwell, Haymarket and Edinburgh where another driver will take over from you. There has been no issues reported on the line to begin with however anything can happen on the rails especially as it is the beginning of rush hour!

9. Scenario Title: 1Y30- 1704- Oban- Edinburgh Waverley
Train: Class 156
Route: Edinburgh- Glasgow Electrified
Date of the Scenario: August 2020 (27/09/2020 to be precise!)
Length of the Scenario: 55 Minutes
Background:
You will take over the only surviving special service from Oban to Edinburgh at Ashfield before heading onto the Edinburgh to Glasgow Line via Cowlairs East Curve where you will take the Class 156 along the E-G calling at Falkirk High, Polmont, Linlithgow, Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverley. When you pick up the service you will be running a few minutes down however you have decent margins throughout so you should make up your time along the way. As it is Sunday evening traffic is light but it is a lovely evening so it should be a good run in a rare type of traction for the E-G these days!

10. Scenario Title: 2D93- 1711- Dunbar- Edinburgh Waverley
Train: Class 380
Route: JustTrains: Newcastle- Edinburgh
Date of the Scenario: October 2020 (01/10/2020 to be precise!)

Background:
Today you will be driving the journey between Dunbar and Edinburgh Waverley, between Dunbar and Edinburgh you will be calling at Musselburgh only, with the sun beginning to set over another autumnal day services are beginning to pick up with the start of peak time, however all is running smoothly on the rails with no issues reported so it should be a nice clear run to the capital. All units are as accurate from 01/10/2020 thanks to Realtime Trains ‘Know Your Train’ feature.

11. Scenario Title: 2G32- 0618- Perth- Edinburgh
Train: Class 170
Route: Fife Circle- Edinburgh- Dunfermline
Date of the Scenario: September 2020
Length of the Scenario: 70 Minutes
Background:
With the usual Perth to Edinburgh services going via Kirkcaldy on the Fife Coast section of the Circle today you are operating the only morning peak service to go from Perth to Edinburgh via Dunfermline. You will start at
Thornton North Junction where you will cross over to the lesser used Platform 2 at Glenrothes where you will pick up passengers before heading down to Edinburgh calling at Cardenden, Lochgelly, Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline Queen Margaret, Dunfermline Town, Rosyth, Inverkeithing, North Queensferry, Dalmeny, Edinburgh Gateway, South Gyle, Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverley. For the journey today you have a pair of 170s. With rush hour approaching there’s a lot of services heading for the capital so do be vigilant of yellows and reds.

12. Scenario Title: 2H35- 0532- Airdrie- Helensburgh Central
Train: Class 320
Route: Suburban Glasgow
Date of the Scenario: April 2019
Length of the Scenario: 75 Minutes
Background:
With the rain pouring down throughout Scotland for the past few days services have been heavily delayed or cancelled. Waves from the Clyde have crashed onto the shore at Craigendoran the previous evening causing the overhead line to be knocked out, this caused a number of Class 334 units to be stuck at Helensburgh overnight. One of the units stuck at Helensburgh was the pairing that was due to form the service you are driving, the 05:32 from Airdrie to Helensburgh, with units all over the place due to the distruption no available 334s were
in a suitable place to cover, so Scotrail have thrown a Class 320 out from Yoker C.S. to cover the service. You will take the Class 320 on a rare run out to Helensburgh calling at Coatdyke, Coatbridge Sunnyside, Blairhill,
Easterhourse, Garrowhill, Shettleston, Carntyne, Bellgrove, High Street, Glasgow Queen Street Low Level, Charing Cross, Partick, Hyndland, Dalmuir, Dumbarton East, Dumbarton Central, Dalreoch, Cardross, Craigendoran and Helensburgh Central.

13. Scenario Title: 2L60- 1559- Arbroath- Edinburgh Waverley
Train: Class 158
Route: Fife Circle- Edinburgh- Dunfermline
Date of the Scenario: September 2020
Length of the Scenario: 55 Minutes
Background:
With the a Class 170 having failed in Haymarket Depot a Class 158 was sent out in its place. Having operated 1L55- 1403- Edinburgh- Arbroath it then formed 2L60, the 1559 from Arbroath to Edinburgh. You will take over the service at Thornton North Junction before calling at Kirkcaldy, Kinghorn, Burntisland, Aberdour, Dalgety Bay, Inverkeithing, North Queensferry, Dalmeny, Edinburgh Gateway, Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverley. As it is the height of rush hour there will be a lot of services departing Edinburgh, thankfully for the passengers on board your service the lack of carriages shouldn’t effect them too much!

Train: Class 90
Route: WCML North
Date of the Scenario: April 2020
