Player train: 221138
Track covered: Aberdeen to Moorthorpe, Swinton (Yorks) to Derby and Birmingham to Penzance
Duration: 745 minutes
Date: Summer 2024
Difficulty: Extremely Hard
Brief: The sun rises over the Grampians on the summer solstice and you’re charged with driving Britain’s longest train journey in it’s entirety. Departing Europe’s oil capital, you’ll roll through Aberdeenshire and Angus, trundle along the Fife coast, fly down the East Coast Mainline to York, traverse the busy Yorkshire commuter networks, Climb up the Derbyshire peaks, weave your way through the West Midlands, cross Gloucestershire, power past Somerset and navigate the winding railways of Devon and Cornwall to reach Penzance.
You’ll be calling at Stonehaven, Montrose, Arbroath, Dundee, Leuchars, Cupar, Ladybank, Markinch, Kirkcaldy, Inverkeithing, Haymarket, Edinburgh, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Alnmouth, Newcastle, Durham, Darlington, York, Leeds, Wakefield Westgate, Sheffield, Derby, Birmingham New Street, Cheltenham Spa, Bristol Parkway, Bristol Temple Meads, Taunton, Tiverton Parkway, Exeter St Davids, Newton Abbot, Totnes, Plymouth, Liskeard, Bodmin Parkway, St Austell, Truro, Redruth and St Erth.
Multiple disruptions have been reported across South West England so do not expect your journey to be an easy one. The longest train journey on the longest day of the year. What could possibly go wrong?
This run covers 724 miles (1,207 kilometres), 221 AI trains and over 12 hours of driving.
The only parts missing is the 10 mile section between Moorthorpe and Swinton (not represented in TS) and 40 miles between Derby and Birmingham (did not know this existed in Train Sim Classic at the time of making).
Notes
- Parts 4 and 10 are particularly resource intensive. Please run the included Free Roams and follow the instructions before attempting to play them.
- There is limited scenery in part 1 between Aberdeen and Montrose. I one day hope to live in a world where Aberdeen Angus is completed but sadly, we currently do not.

Can anyone let me know what has happened to Network ScotEast? I’m just getting back into Train Simulator and can’t find it anywhere. I’d love to do this whole run! Thanks
Absolutely brilliant scenario. Couldn’t recommend it enough, great work!
Brilliant! Any chance you could fill in the gap between Derby and Birmingham using the Birmingham 2010 route? 🙂
Wow.. amazing!
