Network ScotEast – Phase 2
23rd January 2025Well well well… it’s finally here! Now in it’s entirety, to give the full walloping of this incredible work. No longer just enough to appease your EMU driving needs, but now your diesels too. DMUs and Loco-Hauled galore.
Part 1 covered all electrified areas of the route, so from Edinburgh to Glasgow (via both Falkirk High and Falkirk Grahamston), and Glasgow to Alloa and Dunblane. Part 2 covers so much more.
This will enable you guys in the wonderful TS Community to enjoy and create a plethora of scenarios to use with the excellent 385 upgrade.
The unelectrified areas (Fife Circle, Longannet branch, and up to Ladybank, and not forgetting the Anniesland branch) that will form Part 2 ARE NOW HERE.
The route has undergone a massive overhaul since the release of Phase 1 a couple of years ago.
There are way too many things to mention here, and I am sure you don’t want to sit here reading a load of blah-de-blah text so I shall summarise as much as possible!
Many stations have been updated to use the station models from the TI Glasgow to Dunblane route, aswell as using other assets from the aforementioned route, such as bridges, and other scenery items.
The signalling has been completely redone, and utilises the AP Signal EP to the maximum.
Vegetation has had a gargantuan overhaul too, heavily utilising the AP Vegetation Pack.
Multiple custom Car Stop Markers are featured, aswell as stopping points at stations, allowing scenario creators to program their AI in scenarios to stop at the correct position in stations, rather than all trains rolling down to the end of the platforms!
Also within the route, probably for the more advanced scenario creators, are marker points which act as announcement triggers, enabling the use of on-train announcements on the route. This is quite an advanced process and is probably better for those who know how scripting works and how to get
announcements in scenarios.
Night lighting has been massively improved on the route aswell, I have probably changed technique about 5 times during the time we have been working on the route, I’m never completely satisfied with how it looks, but as it stands now, I am 99% satisfied with it!

Thanks and enjoy!
I have installed the route but gave a completely black sky on all scenarios, what may be causing this please?
Appreciate the work that has gone into this.
I can’t get it to load. Keeps CTD.
Have all the requirements but a check with TSTools shows that there are missing additional Track Rules. 1480 different entries on various route tiles. Some are Road Items, some are Loft Items.
RailWorks\Assets\DTG\BristolCardiff\UK_Track_Rule.bin
RailWorks\Assets\DTG\PortsmouthDirect\RailNetwork\TrackRules\CHS_E2G_Track_Rule.bin
RailWorks\Assets\MACH\NSE\RailNetwork\TrackRules\MACH_NSE_Track_Rule ORIGINAL.bin
RailWorks\Assets\MACH\NSE\RailNetwork\TrackRules\MACH_NSE_Track_Rule.bin
If this is only affecting me then just ignore as it must be something else at my end which I cannot figure out. No issues with other routes. Not the end of the world.
Cheers.
Could not get it to work, CTD in the editor or loading any scenario, so just deleted it.
Initially all the route and assets files were showing as blocked as they had come from another computer. Unblocked them in case that was the issue.
Double checked I had all the requirements, tried deleting the missing items in TSTools as a last hope.
Not sure if the missing item were unnecessary left overs from phase one or if they were not packed with phase 2.
Got more than enough still unplayed in any depth routes to keep me going.
Cheers anyway.
By pure luck I got this to work. It appears that something major got messed up when installing NSE and the scenario dependencies.
After playing on various other routes I had a CTD when trying to load AP MML Enhancement and ATS South Wales Mainline Modern.
Checked in TSTools which rolling stock was being used on MML.
Reinstalled the MML route and AP Class 319 vol 1+2, Class 375-377 and Class 377-379-387.
Also reinstalled the Just Trains Common Library.
Reinstalled just the route folder for NSE.
One or a combination fixed the CTDs.
I suspect that the AP rolling stock may have been corrupted when installing the required stock for the scenarios with all the bat files that were being run or the JT Common Library got messed up somewhere. I have it unpacked.
Anyway, looks good. Hopefully nothing else has been corrupted. Too many routes and assets to check through.
Cheers.
Im generally unsure whats happened to my route, my V1 worked perfectly and then when i install V2 as the instructions listed, ive now got missing bridges, and platforms and huge gaps in scenery in places like Ashfield and the entirety of Glasgow Queen Street missing. I’m not sure what to do
Though, ive had a look at my ts, and ive got quite a few errors within the game on other routes too, might be that my installation has gone a bit wonky which could cause some assets to become corrupted on my end. So i’ll try and have a go at fresh installing most of the routes/assets that arent fully working for me.
Chris – fabulous, truly spot on with Class 37 through Longannet etc.
Only minor thing I couldn’t get the class 47 to load despite having the requirements so swapped it out for another version and worked fine on Part 2 .
Thanks again – really appreciated!
Just discovered the Longannet branch with Agdron’s 1Z69, and what can I say? It looks absolutely fantastic! Thanks for all the work involved.
Please may I ask, does this version install on top of the previous one, or is it a clean install?
Either clean or over the top of the previous.
The manual misses the: LSL Scotrail Push-Pull Pack as a scenario requirement. It’s listed on this page though
Yeah an oversight, not going to change the manual just for this. People see it on the page here first in the requirements list.
Great map. I appear to be missing objects (like the station) in the Glenrothes area. What source for the scenery did you use for objects there so I can double check I’ve installed a requirement correctly?
Fife Circle route from DTG.
Fabulous. Everything installed a treat although I had start patterns on some feather signals – sorted by a re-install of the AP signals pack. Awesome effort team Network ScotEast.
Will scenarios created for part 1 still be compatible with the updated route?
Should be no issues with older scenarios 😉
Great, thank you to you and the NSE team for a brilliant piece of work 👏
Having an issue with the Scotrail HST. I have downloaded and installed ScotRail Stock Pack v3.4 and AP’s MTU HST pack today. I am missing AP 43 SR (W3), AP Mk3 SR TGFB, and a few others. Interestingly I appear to have the 2 PRM trailers! I have all of the requirements noted both here and in the Readme, can anyone shed some light?
Exactly the same here – I don’t have the latest AP MTU Pack, just the previous Enhancement Pack – having swapped out the missing stock in TSTools (excluding the PRM trailers which, like you, it says that I have) – loading the scenario then says that I don’t have the PRMs, suggesting that there are probably no Geo files for these, but I haven’t investigated further yet.
Because you need the latest HST MTU Pack. The old MTU is of no use whatsoever.
Ahh, all makes sense now. I was not aware a new MTU pack had been released. All sorted now, thanks Chris
Agreed Chris, it isn’t any use – unless you swap the missing stock for older reskins, which is a faff, but if you can’t afford to keep up with AP’s, ATS’s and other’s latest and greatest – and I genuinely wish that I could – then it’s the only way of running these scenarios on this really excellent route – and a huge thank you to the team for creating it.
I’m also missing the AP Mk3 pack and have had to make some inaccurate swaps for the driven train – I always drive from the cab, so it doesn’t bother me and I suppose that I derive some perverse pleasure out of getting scenarios to work – most of the time! Finding what I want in a 584Gb Railworks installation (I’ve been at it a long time) is also pretty good mental exercise for someone pushing 74 who remembers the ECML at Newark when virtually the only diesels were 08s
The “PRMs” probably came bundled with another reskin package which put some files into my Assets/AP folder, so that it initially looks like I have the MK3 pack, TSTools is then “fooled” into thinking that I have at least some of this pack, but the lack of Geo files (and probably some others) means that the game correctly detects that I haven’t.
You have to have the Mk3 Coach Pack aswell.
Route looks fantastic thank to everyone involved in making the route.just a couple of reskins I need to dl.thats it.thx again for such a wonderful route.
fantastic route! I´ve downloaded it for the first time, because I never had much scottish content. The last couple of sales I bought everything requiered and now downloaded phase 2… it makes three payware routes redundant and improves them massivly. Great work, thanks.
PS: as discussed on stream last night: I think extensions to Perth and Dundee would make the most sense, if you have Scottish East Coast Main Line as a requierment anyways.
