OVERVIEW: Work to deliver the East Coast Digital Programme over the Bank Holiday between London and Peterborough has closed all lines running south of the latter, and a heavily reduced timetable is in place on the ECML. To provide passengers an easier alternative, for the first time LNER are running a limited diverted return service in and out of Bedford on the Midland Main Line. This afternoon, you lead 1Z76, the 12:27 departure from Newcastle through to Bedford as far as Leicester. Setting = August 2026.
