Between 2016 and 2018 and during the closure of the line to Blackpool North for electrification works, Northern took over the sidings just north of Leyland to stable and maintain their fleet of DMUs. This morning 142042, which has been sat here for the past few days, is now required in Manchester Oxford Road to work services between Manchester and Liverpool. You have just climbed into the cab and will work the train as far as Wigan North Western, which includes a reversal at Preston. Year = 2018
