Glasgow to Dunblane and Alloa Station Announcement Sound Patch
2nd August 2026When Glasgow to Dunblane was announced, I was quite intrigued by the idea of station announcements, only to be disappointed when it turned out to be highly echoed text to speech. Despite it now being fairly redundant three years later with barely anyone making scenarios on this route or using said PIS assets, I have taken it upon myself to waste a Saturday morning splicing together audio files.
This patch switches the station announcer voice on Glasgow to Dunblane and Alloa with an actual station announcement voice used at Scotrail Stations. While it may not be completely accurate to these stations, it is still an improvement to the original voice.
Changes (other than the voice)
- The announcer now no longer proudly tells you that the train is on time and instead only notes on delays
- Due to lack of voice clips, the announcer only mentions delays in 5 minute intervals. For example: if a train is delayed by 6 minutes the announcer will announce it is 5 minutes delayed. I could splice more audio together, but I find it funnier than the announcer tries to slip the proper delay times under the rug
- The announcer no longer announced that a train is terminating at a station after announcing “The train now approaching platform x”, as it’s fairly redundant. Instead it is recommended (if you decide to use this for some reason) that you set up as per the routes manual to announce where that train is going after terminating.
- The announcer also doesn’t specify platform number when stating that a fast train is passing through (Triggered with the word FAST), mainly because this was set up quite weirdly
REQUIREMENTS:

You may also with to install track or weather patches depending on what AP Enhancements you have
Installation:
To install, copy the assets folder to your railworks directory and OVERWRITE WHEN ASKED
Support will not be provided for this patch

Great patch, do wish more routes at least tried to make use of these assets as they seem interesting
I think the issue comes down to the limitations in the scripting. Sure you can enter in any destination you want within the available 18 characters, but only a set list actually have coded audio announcements. For some reason instead of putting in actual termini stations, the list includes Larbert and Lenzie, which is two wasted slots.
I am currently trying to see if I can make a script which essentially expands it, but so far I’m not getting much result. By degree trade I am a computer scientist though, so I’ll figure something out even if I must use strings and paperclips to do so
