Desiro City Pack – Class 700/707/717
11th May 2019In collaboration with the infamous Superalbs, ATS brings the Class 700 to you.
This pack depicts a representation of the Class 700, 707 and 717 for their respective operators (Govia Thameslink Railway [Thameslink], South West Trains/South Western Railway & Govia Thameslink Railway [Great Northern]).
Work has been undertaken to include more than just the original 700. A tail light variant of the DMOC/DMSO is provided so AI does not pass you with headlights on the rear. Furthermore, an impromptu Class 707 and 717 are provided for scenarios.
Faults:
We are aware that this is not entirely accurate, but it is a decent representation.
Due to the mapping, the 717 does not have much detailing on the front, and the 707 has some additional yellow sections. We know there’s no external cab nor pantograph.
Coupled units merge into each other slightly, though this should only be noticeable with Class 707s in multiple.
This will drive by using the BML 450 cab, but we cannot offer assistance for those who can’t get it to work for anything other than AI.
In the editor:
We are aware this has a tendency to not display properly in the editor. It should however take into effect when you press the play button, or clear the cache and try again.
You must enable RSC\BrightonMainline and the respective Class in Superalbs (gn717, swt707 & swt707DMSO, or tl700)

It doesnt’ have the GEOPCDX files on it.
It does, they’re just in a different folder.

What needs to be ticked for them to show up in scenario editor?

If it doesn`t work still, then just reload the scenario. It worked for me.
Better than I expected – as its for AI and FREE, you can’t complain really.
For me if the doors and lights were fully working it’ll be great – but for now its good – Thanks to Alan, Clowes and Superalbs for bringing this out.
Good for only being WIP. Definitely looks like a Desiro City. Good until an official version is made. Really impressed.

What I think of the pack:
The Pack is Good and I think the exterior modelling is somewhat ok
some things that bug me with the pack is the lack of any sort of numbering, no destinations and the fact that the Interior textures is literally just grey with inverted Antimacassars. I think they can be worked on more. Also what bugs me is the cab having backface issues where it doesn’t appear on the outside. Also some Branding would be greatly appreciated. Even a new cab, not to the best standard would be tolerable.
The pack is not designed to be a fully fledged piece of kit. We are aware it’s effectively in a WIP state, despite having very little done to it these days. The community has been begging for the pack for a long time (not so much recently) but no it’s here it isn’t being well appreciated.
Enjoy what it does, than pity what it doesn’t.

I can agree. It does the job as AI, and I didn’t have many expectations for it anyway, but unless the mapping was insane I think branding would be feasible. A panto up variant and animated doors would also be very nice if neither are hard-wired into the model.
TO THE OP ONLY: The pack was designed for AI, not to be fully drivable.

Quite disappointed. Even for AI, it just doesn’t do any good. I can see potential if it’s developed more and I can record and contribute sounds if you would like as well.
I’m sure with time and effort, it can be a great addon but for now, not worth it
