[CH] “The Master Cutler” 1Z46 08:35 Leeds – St. Pancras International

This is a scenario for the AP Midland Mainline Route Enhancement.

Take the controls of recently overhauled 46035, proudly turned out by Locomotive Services Limited (LSL), on one of her very first main line railtours since returning to traffic. Today’s run sees this mighty Peak heading back to her original stomping ground, charging south towards St Pancras International. You join the train following a signal check at Bedford North Junction, with the capital as your next and only passenger call. There will be a short wait at West Hampstead Thameslink station while you clear into St Pancras. You have 9 on the hook, with 47712 on the rear providing ETS.

This scenario is semi-fictional; however, it is based on the timings operated by 45118 in May 2025 whilst working “The Master Cutler”, providing a realistic framework for pathing, regulation and performance expectations along the Midland Main Line.

About the author

All my scenarios follow actual WTTs, these span span the 1980s to modern day – from Class 1 expresses to heavy freights, with plenty of chasing yellows. I play with trains for a living, and when I’m not on the real railway, I’m usually playing with ones that are 76 times smaller and made from plastic.
