[CH] 6S94 02:03 Dollands Moor – Irvine Caledonian Paper
12th February 2026 8 By ChuntleyThis is a scenario for the WCML Over Shap route.
The Irvine Caledonian paper trains originate from Antwerp in Belgium, where they are formed before a locomotive change in France to a Class 92 for the long haul through the Channel Tunnel and onto the WCML. When GBRf won the contract for the Irvine flows, a Class 66 was inserted between the 92 and the wagons in preparation for the diesel leg to Irvine, creating some truly heavy and demanding workings. The 66 would take over after a 10 hour wait in Carlisle N.Y.
In earlier years, EWS/DB Schenker handled the swap further north, meaning Class 92s often had to tackle both Shap and Beattock on trains that could reach up to 1,900 tonnes, not always without difficulty.
In this scenario you take charge of 92044 “Couperin”, still wearing her original BR livery despite being in GBRf ownership, with 66728 tucked in between you and a train of 20 German-registered ICA tanker wagons. You are a few minutes early at Preston and will work forward to Carlisle Network Yard, where you will detach and stable on the Wall Sidings.
It is worth noting that difficulty in this scenario can vary due to the random factor applied to efficiency by Armstrong Powerhouse’s temperature simulation on the Class 92 Enhancement Pack. Grayrigg could be blitzed at a steady 50 mph, or if your locomotive gets particularly warm, it may slow to a crawl of around 15 mph – so careful management is key.
You are also best advised at properly reading the temperature simulation section of the manual for AP’s Class 92 EP.

About the author
All my scenarios follow actual WTTs, these span span the 1980s to modern day – from Class 1 expresses to heavy freights, with plenty of chasing yellows. I play with trains for a living, and when I’m not on the real railway, I’m usually playing with ones that are 76 times smaller and made from plastic. I’m also quite keen on repainting and weathering these. Besides playing trains I also play a certain six stringed instrument.

I had an issue with 9M51 running to a Portal 1 that it threw up an error as location didn’t exist. i passed it at Oxheys where it wasn’t moving. Apart from that another fabulous run north. Indeed a very heavy train and I struggled to get to summit of Shap at 15mph fans going wild.
Glad you enjoyed. Not too sure about what’s happening with 9M51 but at least you were able to complete the scenario
i seem to have a issue that the TVM is on
can’t get the brakes off showing SOS ATP/TVM in cab
shows no distance to any of the stops
TVM isn’t used on the WCML over Shap. As the manual clearly states: “TVM-430 is the signalling system used on the high-speed line section of the London – Faversham route.” This route is not fitted with TVM.
If you’re seeing SOS ATP/TVM and no distance to stops, you’ve enabled a system that isn’t required. Turn it off and operate under normal UK signalling. There is no reason to use TVM in this scenario.
i am aware that TVM is only used on HS1
it would seem that the save that has the cab set up seems to break the AP scripting as well as the route distance and ETA and the 66 even though its down as dead has the engine running when loading into the route
No clue what’s going on then I’m afraid. Must be your end. Having downloaded the scenario from the website myself and installing that one, it behaves completely fine. 65 other users have downloaded it and I’m guessing haven’t had issues considering the lack of comments. Might be worth reinstalling some of the requirements on your end
hmmm strange I did try with a reinstall of the 92 and 66 same issue still present so I’ve got no idea i will give it another try later on see if it was just TS been TS
hi, i had the same problem too, and found the cause was the rolling start was ticked on in the scenario.
disabling it fixed things up
