[CH] 6M05 06:10 Falkland S.S. – Rugeley Power Station (2005)
4th September 2025This is a scenario for the ATS WCML Birmingham to Preston “Missing Link”.
The steady flow of coal traffic from Scotland to power stations and industries in England was once a common sight, with heavy southbound trains making their way through the network. Take EWS Class 66 No. 66083 with 22 loaded HTA wagons from Preston to Crewe. With a substantial load behind, managing speed and power is essential while navigating the busy West Coast Main Line, dealing with signals, gradients, and congestion along the way. These coal trains were a vital part of the supply chain, but are now sadly a thing of the past.
