[CH] 2B09 07:45 Buxton – Manchester Piccadilly
13th July 2026 4 By ChuntleyThis is a scenario for Just Trains’ Midland Mainline, sepcifically the Buxton and Hope Valley extensions.
During the weekday timetable this unit diagram operates as a 4-car formation throughout the morning and evening peaks, reducing to a 2-car unit during the quieter off-peak hours.
That’s exactly what you’ll be doing for the first leg of your diagram, taking the full 4-car pairing from Buxton into Manchester Piccadilly, calling at all intermediate stations to pick up the morning commuters heading into the city. With temperatures forecast to reach a scorching 30°C in Manchester, it’s set to be another hot and uncomfortable rush hour, so expect busy platforms, warm conditions, and a punctual run as you weave through the Peak District towards the bustling city terminus.
Date: 10th July 2026
Please note: You may be required to “TAB” signal MP305 (Longsight North Jn area) to gain the Calling On signal.

About the author
All my scenarios follow actual WTTs, these span span the 1980s to modern day – from Class 1 expresses to heavy freights, with plenty of chasing yellows. I play with trains for a living, and when I’m not on the real railway, I’m usually playing with ones that are 76 times smaller and made from plastic. I’m also quite keen on repainting and weathering these. Besides playing trains I also play a certain six stringed instrument.

Great scenario thanks
Most welcome
Thoroughly enjoyable scenario! Appreciate the effort with all the extra destination markers to keep to the right line. No issues with the Longsight North signal 🙂
Glad to hear that Longsight signal has sorted itself out. Not sure what was going on. Also thanks for the feedback on the stopping points – a bit of a bug bear of mine when playing other people’s scenarios!
