This is a scenario for Just Trains’ Midland Mainline using the Sheffield – Derby, Derby-Nottingham-Leicester and Erewash Valley extensions.

To maintain driver competency over the Erewash Valley route, CrossCountry operate four services via Toton every weekend. You are working the morning northbound service with a 4-car Class 220 Voyager.

This unit arrived into Derby from Barton as part of an 8-car formation, where it has been split, with the front portion forming a Birmingham-bound service while your portion continues north towards Newcastle. After preparing the train, take your service south out of Derby and route via Toton and the Erewash Valley line towards Sheffield, where a colleague will be waiting to relieve you and take over the remainder of the journey.
