22nd January 2026 0 By Chuntley

This is a scenario for MaxTracks Leeds North West route.

Historically, Bradford–London King’s Cross services were able to be worked by Class 91s thanks to sufficient power availability in the overhead line equipment east of Shipley, unlike the section west of Shipley which was restricted to HST operation only. In this scenario, take 91029 Queen Elizabeth II with Mk4 set BN06 from Bradford Forster Square through to Leeds on the first GNER service to London from Bradford of the day, calling only at Shipley. Departing Bradford at 06:33, you should have a largely clear run over the Aire Valley, with the sunrise hopefully peeking over the hills, but remain alert on the approach to Leeds where traffic levels can increase.
