5Y40 – The Final 460 Transfers to Chart Leacon
21st March 20255Y40 – The Final Class 460 Transfer to Chart Leacon
The Class 460 ‘Gatwick Express’ units have reached the end of their service life in their original form, with the sets being transferred to Chart Leacon for conversion into Class 458s.
In this scenario, you will be driving 5Y40, an empty stock movement from Stewarts Lane Depot to Paddock Wood, where another driver will take over for the final leg to Chart Leacon. Your route takes you via the Chatham Main Line and Southeastern Main Line, passing through Bromley South and Tonbridge.
This should be a straightforward run, but with regular Southeastern services sharing the line, be prepared for potential signal checks along the way. Stick to your path, manage your speed, and hand over the train safely at Paddock Wood.

Update Log:
Fixed the pathing issue of 2H18 not leaving Orpington
UPDATE: I have revised the scenario so that 2H18 no longer stops at Orpington. This change should resolve the pathing issue that was previously encountered. I have tested the scenario in its entirety, and everything appears to be functioning well. However, if you still encounter any issues, please let me know.
Gave it another go and it indeed worked flawlessly. Thanks!
Same for me too. Stuck at Orpington.
A very nice scenario, until Orpington where 2H18 would not leave, preventing me from getting a path 🙁
Glad you enjoyed it up until Orpington! That wasn’t an issue I encountered during testing—there should be a roughly 2-minute wait before the path clears. Just to check, did you TAB any signals? I’ll see if anyone else has the same issue and look into it if needed!
Same here I’m afraid. Waited 20 minutes at Orpington but still red.
