1Z70 0648 Derby to Lowestoft
15th October 2025The 15th July 2023 saw the departure of a pretty special railtour courtesy of the Branch Line Society. 50007 + 50008 would provide the “thunder” as you power up and down the MML looking for the most complicated way of getting to East Anglia. Stops at Leicester and Nottingham are seperated by a pick-up at East Midlands Parkway in the down direction only. As far as the red pen is concerned, don’t get too excited, the Down Nottingham Slow between Beeston and Mansfield Jns is as good as it gets I’m afraid.
Traction: 50007 + 6x Mk3 + 50008 (Max 75 mph)
Route: Derby – Leicester – Nottingham (100-135 mins)
Notes: The scenario will register as incomplete due to a ‘Go Via’ instruction at Sileby. Apologies to those who like their green ticks.

Thank you for the comment.
As far as I know, the railtour only passed the NR UTU at Leicester and a Colas LE move at Beeston. In terms of static consists at Mountsorrel etc. I didn’t want to push the c. 40 AI trains already in place.
Excellent work, thanks!
Maybe a bit of freight action would have been a nice touch?
