1M64 Tonbridge – Crewe Parcels – September 1992 – Class 86/4

1M64 was a RES working that trunked a number of mail and parcel flows from the South East into the Midlands and the North.

It was booked to change traction from a Class 47 to a Class 86 at Willesden West London Junction, then go forward via Northampton, which was a significant remarshalling point for RES workings at the time.

There the train would exchange vans with other workings, with vehicles going forward to locations such as Leicester and Birmingham.

Collect 86425 fresh off an A exam at Willesden TMD, relieve the incoming Class 47, and take the train forward to Northampton.

The path is relatively slack, you’re playing second fiddle to the end of the evening peak, there’s a total of 12 minutes of allowances. Also, your route includes the Willesden Relief Lines “diveunder” so that you aren’t crossing the entire WCML on the flat.

The weather is near true to the day in question: cloudy, misty, and with patches of fog and rain.

There are a few signals which may need a <TAB> or <CTRL-TAB> (depending which end you’re driving from) to clear – these are mostly related to the shunting moves getting from the TMD to coupling up to the train.

I hope you enjoy the run and welcome your feedback.

To Install

Having unzipped this file, just copy the “Content” folder into your Railworks folder. The .zip file contains the correct directory structure. This will install the scenario.

This is a “Standard” scenario, and will show up easily if you filter on “1M64”, or look under “WCML South Full” or “AP Class 86”.

Usual disclaimers apply – this scenario is user generated content, it is provided with no warranty and the author accepts no responsibility or liability.

The scenario is quite resource intensive, there’s a total of 50 pieces of AI, plus the player train, and some static items.

On my install, the memory “commit” for the Railworks64 process is around 14GB while running this scenario, though the working set is less.

It has been tested to the best of my ability.
