1M22 Summer 1992 Up “Royal Scot”
15th December 20241M22 Up Royal Scot – Summer 1992
A Train Sim Classic Scenario Set
This set comprises a three part scenario featuring one of the WCML’s premier Anglo-Scottish services.
Traction is the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 87.
Rolling starts are used so that you don’t have to set the cab up each time.
The scenarios feature near prototypical weather/visibility for the day in question, and where the gen exists, prototypical formations and loco allocations.
Obviously there’s been some artistic license used to add a bit of interest here and there.
The scenarios are fairly intensive in terms of AI trains, Part 1 has 21 AI trains, Part 2 has a more modest 14, while Part 3 has 41 AI trains. This means that I’ve had to be reasonably conservative on “eye candy” static trains in places.
In this late era of sectorisation in BR, the maintenance and operation of the infrastructure of a line fell under it’s prime user: in this case the InterCity sector and they had invested heavily in new technology such as Dynamic Track Stabilisers, which along with other improved maintenance techniques meant there were periods during this timetable where TSRs on the WCML Fast Lines were far and few between.
So, crank up those early 90’s tunes and enjoy a flavour of late era sectorisation on the WCML!
To Install
Having unzipped this file, just copy the “Content” folder into your Railworks folder. The .zip file contains the correct directory structure.
This will install the three individual scenarios.
These are “Standard” scenarios, and will show up easily if you filter on “1M22 wtt1992sum”, look under “AP Class 87”, or the relevant routes.
The scenarios aren’t configured to automatically daisy chain.

A thoroughly enjoyable 3 part scenario. Couldn’t understand why in part 1 I got an X at “go via Norton Bridge”. Thank you for sharing.
Ah, that could be the passing speed on the “Go via”, thanks for letting me know – as you’re following something, and everyone’s driving style is a little different, it’s possible you could have gone past the marker slower than the speed set in the “Go Via”.
A very enjoyable set of scenarios with some great AI. Cheers.
Thanks for the feedback – good to hear you liked the run!
red signal at preston platform does not clear ?
part 2, stuck at signal SD491
Quite how you’ve been routed to SD4 91 I have no idea, as SD4 91 protects the Stafford South Junction Up Slow, and the player train simply shouldn’t be there. The player train is specifically routed using a waypoint on the Up Fast at Stafford, which should be leading you to SD4 214 (which is an Auto signal).
The P4 Up Platform starter, PN112?
I have not been able to reproduce this – and as you can see in the screenshot, it does clear during testing, though it is a custom signal which is peculiar to the route.
It ought to clear pretty much straight away once the Class 47 hauled train enters Platform 6 and is inside the P6 Up Starter.
