1C55 London Paddington – Penzance (full journey)

6th November 2025 3 By Ryan11223344

A six hour, three part scenario covering the 325 miles from London to Penzance via Bristol!

An overwhelming majority of London – Penzance services operate via the Reading – Taunton Line. However, a handful of trains run through Swindon and Bristol as extensions of the bi-hourly Bristol  diagrams. You drive the 06:00 departure all the way to Penzance; calling at Reading, Didcot Parkway, Swindon, Chippenham, Bath Spa, Bristol Temple Meads, Bridgwater, Taunton, Tiverton Parkway, Exeter St Davids, Newton Abbott, Plymouth, Saltash, St Germans, Liskeard, Bodmin Parkway, Lostwithiel, St Austell, Truro, Redruth, Cambourne, Hayle and St Erth, arriving just in time for lunch.

You’ve been handed an 800 for this diagram which is unusual as 802s are preferred for services west of Exeter owing to the steep gradients in Devon and Cornwall. You’ll struggle to keep to time without the 802’s superior acceleration.

Be on the lookout for Castle sets and Class 175s out on test runs!
