I have been working on a couplet scenario for Th East Coast manilne merge and DP simulation NE England route to Sunderland and Teeside. I was trying to create a scenario that owuld take me the whole journey form London Kings Cross to Sunderland, of course it would need to be done in two parts because the merge does not include Teesdide, at least I could do the run from KX to York , then do the second stage from York to Sunderland. I aslo wanted to use the Class 180 Grand Central consist and this is hwere I came across a major snag. At first I thought that the tracks were too close together on a section of track from Peterborough north to just before Grantham; the section of 4 tracks, up slow up fast down slow and fown fast. It was not the track at all ; it was the Class 180 consist. It appears as though the trains phisical properties are such that two Class 180’s cannot pass each other on this section of track without triggering an AI collision. It only happens with two Claas 180 are fine.’s A 180 and a 221, 350 or 390 So the net result is I will be making and adapting the couolet of scrnatrios for both the Class 180 Grand Central and a Class 801 Crand Central consist. I know GC have not bought any of these units yet but it wont be long. The purist’s would prefer the Class 180 so I have had to modify the scenario so that two call 180’s dont cause the same issue.
Just thought this might be of interest to anyne thinking about creating scenarios for the same route.
There are of course still some SPAD issues with signaling, especially around Peterborough. This is because it appears as though not all the tracks have been linked to the signals , so where one aspect has ben left uncovered, the signal will always show red as a default, you cannot avoid a SPad as a tesult.27th June 2021 at 22:52 #2295184Robbo13Participant
This is a known issue with the 180, try downloading the 180 update complete on here and see what that does.
I know the times I’ve used the 180 in my scenarios they have collided when passing. Downloading the update has helped, though the 180 does cause quite a few dumps.28th June 2021 at 09:14 #2296013
Thanks Robbo for the information on the update, I will check it out and see how it runs. I just wish I could edit the route and fix the signalling problem.28th June 2021 at 15:02 #2296672
Sadly Robbo even the updated 180 did not stop the AI colision. Not to worry though because that is the thing about creating scenarios….in life there are always what if’s, so when we create a scenario that has problems, you have choices, give up or create a scenario around the problem to solve it, just as would happen in real life. I have completed stage one of the scenario so i will begin work on stage two tomorrow. It should not take half as long becuase there will be fewer AI. I would love someone to help me resolve the issue over editing the route. I have planty of time on my hands to do just that. For some reason I am unable to save any modifications I make to the route, every time the computer goes into a screen freeze crash and a reboot is needed. Of course when I o a reboot I also have to reinstall the route too , his is because the track files go missing. There are a few signalling issues at Peterborough, Doncaster and Retford that I know about, there is of course the missing catenery on the Edinburgh to Newcastle section and for some reason there are a few catenary anomallies ( anomalies by way of unsuported catenary arms. I love this merge despite these little foibles and despite the ever present out of memeory crashes that seem to make TS 2021 such an unstable platform to work on.29th June 2021 at 09:56 #2298667Robbo13Participant
Sorry to hear the 180 update has not worked.
Unfortunately that is the way T.S. is, you could create an excellent scenario with all the AI running perfectly, go to test it and get a derailment or Ai collision within the first 30 seconds. Or even better, do a whole scenario only for it not to load due to the amount of Ai- that’s fun trying to sort that out!
If you are having issues with the ECML merge then drop ATS a support ticket or put a post on the ATS Facebook group (if you are in it). I’m sure someone on there might be able to help you.
