Scenarios
The route is Quick Drive enabled with a broad selection of starting locations including the DC lines.
AI for the Quick Drives can be switched “on” or “off” which may help for PC’s with a lower spec.
There is also s selection of scenarios written by Colin Izatt, plus two test scenarios. Requirement for these can be found in the enclosed PDF.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
The route installs automatically using installation software.
Your anti virus software may “red flag” the installation.exe as being “unsafe”.
Be assured the the program does not contain any harmful files, viruses or anything that will damage your computer.
Installation of this version has been made easier using this install program.
The installer should automatically find your Railworks directory, but if needed, the route can be installed into a different directory.
You should not be prompted to overwrite/replace any files during installation. However, if you are, it is safe to do so.
To install, simply double click the WCML_South_v5.2….exe and follow instructions.
* Armstrong Powerhouse Track Enhancement Pack.
If you have this pack installed, you should download the WCML_South_v5.2_APTEP optimised version of the route.
This will:
. Provide a seamless visual transition between the route track and the AP track EP.
. Allow for texture “blending”.
. Raise the track by 6cm to reduce “ground texture bleed” and the appearance of “floating” AWS ramps and TPS grids .etc.
. The route will continue to use the default 3rd rail provided in the BML route. This is due to Armstrong Powerhouse not providing a “tunnel” version of a 3rd rail at the time of this release.
. The 3rd rail will also be at a more realistic height.
This version is highly recommended if you have the Armstrong Powerhouse Track Enhancement Pack installed .
(No default Armstrong Powerhouse files will be overwritten during this process)
CREDITS
Many thanks to all who have contributed, helped and given advice during the making of this version of the route.
Including:
David Scott. For the original version of the route.
Colin Izatt. For his scenarios and extensive help with Beta testing.
Jack Sherriff. For info and photos of the new corporate LNR & WMR liveries.
Steve Green. For advice on signals and signage.
Gary Padley. For permission to include his assets.
Joseph Pearson. For giving me permission to “morph” one of his track assets for use on the Bakerloo underground section.
Members of the The Virtual District Line team. For inspiration and permission to use their assets.
And not forgetting the Beta testers.
Please Note.
Following the exclusion of required components from the latest version of the ECMLC Moorgate Tube Extension, changes have been needed in the production of this version of the route.
Full testing of the route has not been possible due to time constraints. This may have a minor impact on “quality control”.
Effectively, a small number of scenery items may be missing or in the wrong position.
If you spot anything out of place, I would be grateful if you could let me know.
Getting this version available to ALL members of ATS as soon as possible was the priority.
Any observed “imperfections” can be put right at a later date.
Two versions available, you only need to download one version.
1. WCML_South_v5.22.
– Download this version if you DO NOT have the AP Track Pack
2. WCML_South_v5.2_APTEP
– Optimised for Armstrong Powerhouse Track Enhancement Pack. Download this version if you HAVE the AP Track Pack
Hello!
I must say a fantastic route; definitely one of the best out there, well done to those involved. I have noticed a few bugs regarding pathing for scenario creation which I feel is worth mentioning for the next update:
Bi-direction lines (up fast/ slow, down fast/ slow) east of Primrose Hill, AI automatically routing to other lines especially around Milton Keynes. Can be fixed by being more specific with the path of the train but may catch some scenario creators off guard. This also applies to the Bakerloo line West of Stonebridge Park
Trains not being able to enter Elephant & Castle directly from Lambeth North, pathing wanting it to reverse from Lambeth North (southbound platform) to go on the Northbound track, and enter Elephant & Castle that way
The signal south of Harrow & Wealdstone on the DC lines is permanently red and cannot pass at danger as a player train. Some AI can pass and some AI cannot
Let me know if I can be of any help
Thanks
Lewis
The responsibility for “pathing” rests squarely with the scenario creator.
The route uses minimal single direction track in order to facilitate creative scenario writing.
For this reason, there is no guarantee that the Player train, or AI trains, will path onto the desired track, if the route chosen is left to the “dispatcher”.
The use of waypoints will almost certainly be required in certain areas.
This advice is mentioned in both the WCMLv5.2 pdf and also the Footnotes pdf, which are included with the route download.
I have run several test scenarios, but have not been able to replicate the other issues that you have mentioned.
I was able to set a path into both of the platforms at Elephant & Castle after departing from Piccadilly via Lambeth North on the southbound line.
I did not encounter any red signals south of Harrow & Wealdstone on the DC lines in either direction. This was tested with and without AI.
I can only conclude that the way your scenarios have been written, may be the reason for your issues ?
I would be happy to look at your scenarios if that would be of any help.
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me in downloading this route. I’m not subscribed and so can’t use the launcher as shown in the steps above. Is the launcher required to download this and if it isn’t could somebody please run me through on how to download this route?
Thanks
Download the appropriate version of the route, either WCML South v5.2 OR WCML South v5.2 for the AP Track EP.
Unpack the zip and read the WCMLv5.2 info.pdf for installation and route requirements information.
Run the .exe file. (The Alan Thomson Sim Installer is not required)
It is recommended that you also update the route by installing the WCMLv5.2-Update-pack01 after installation is complete.
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. I’m trying to find the “Class 377 reskins with extra files for a Southern Pantograph up version”. The link that is in the scenario requirements PDF is not working. I have looked everywhere. Any help would be much apprieciated. Thanks
This file is no longer available from the link in the Scenario requirements.
At the time of writing this, the file you require can be found (if I’m not mistaken), on the vulcanproductions.co.uk website.
Search for: Class 377 Thameslink Pack.
Right ok thanks. Will have a look
Hi Alex55, when playing the quick drive on this route on the virgin trains birmingham new street – london euston, the train looks like its crashing into the tunnals as the tunnals are overgrown completely with grass or something but the train actually goes through, please could you create a patch for this
Patch not required. All of the tunnels have “Tunnel Hole Decals” in place (but not all are from the same DLC)
Do you have all of the listed requirements ?
I dont have UKTS freeware pack Telegraph pole, UKTS
Buildings Railway Pack, UKTS transmision lines, UKTS DAF LF pack, UKTS enviro bus pack, which one of these will make the tunnel hole decals?
Sorry I thought I had glasgow rail link route installed but I didn’t and that sorted the tunnel hole decals, lol, thanks anyway
I first downloaded this route but I didn’t have all the listed requirements when I installed it to train simulator. I purchased the rest of the requirements and downloaded the rest of the freeware. But when I was driving on the route last night between Birmingham International and Coventry I noticed that when the train goes through the bridge my graphics start flickering and my screen goes black and grey and this only occurs between this area of the route. Some of the graphics are still pronounced but nearly half the screen e.g in front of the drivers window keeps flashing. Why would this be?
Hi having a bit of a problem loading scenarios gets so for then get files crash and goes back to start.
Have tried re installed, but same problem any ideas? Thanks.
This sounds like what would happen if running TS in 32-bit mode.
Does this happen when running in 64-bit ?
Yes it happens no matter what I am using. Seemed OK using 64 bit, but when I finished scenario it dumped files and did not show up as being played.
I`m having trouble finding the DRS Less Megafret 45ft Stobart Containers load. Any suggestion would be helpfull .
Pleased to say that i found the missing item has stated in previous posting , but despite having all nessesary items to run the scenarios invloving DRS Class 68 i`m being told that Megafret Stobart Containers cannot be found , so scenarios can`t be loaded ??.
Can you send me a screenshot of the error message ?

Woodhead line electric or the first Woodhead line route?
It’ ok. Found it. However, a small section track near Euston and tunnel walls still missing.
Sorted
What requirement is for the underground stations boarder walls
If I understand your question correctly. The station walls are created from the same tunnel asset that is used for the majority of the mainline tunnels (just with a different texture).
The necessary .geo & .Xsec files are created (copied) during the route installation process.
The Woodhead route must be installed prior to the WCML South route for this to be achieved.
If you installed the Woodhead Line (original version) after installing the WCML South route, you will just need to reinstall it (the WCMLv5.2 route).
This also applies to other dependent DLC from which files are copied.
If this doesn’t resolve your problem, let me know and I’ll see if I can help.
Hi Alex if you let have contact details ,no prob Bob aka Beduth.

I really want to get an annual subscription and be able to drive this route. Before I do, I need to find and download the Virtual District Line bits as these are the only bits left to install. Can someone please point me in the direction of this, please? I see that it says that links are in the enclosed PDF but I am unable to see where that is either. I have downloaded it but have not yet subscribed so am unable to open the route install file. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
An annual subscription is not required to download and install the route.
There are three PDF files included with the download.
.
“WCMLv5.2 info.pdf”. This document includes information about the route and it’s requirements (including a hypertext link to the Virtual District Line).
.
“Scenario Requirements.pdf”. This document lists the scenarios requirements and includes hypertext links for reskins etc.
.
“Footnotes.pdf”. This document includes additional information.
.
I would also recommend installing the WCMLv5.2-Update-pack01.
Hi there, I am looking at the requirements for scenario 1U25 Euston-Crewe, there are many, but amongst those are Steam Class 66 Pack 03, Class 70 Pack 01, Stem Class 92 Pack 01, Steam Class 378 01. I have searched the Steam store, and these items do not exist, I even searched under TS Marketplace, but no luck. Please clarify? Also, if I purchase the AP Class 350 Enhancement Pack, will that give me the LNWR version? Can I just purchase that and ignore the others, because, as you are likely aware, Armstrong Powerhouse ‘stuff’ is really expensive?
Sorry for the confusion.
.
Steam Class 66 Pack 03 = EWS Class 66 v20 Loco Add-On
Steam Class 70 Pack 01 = Freightliner Class 70 Loco Add-On
Steam Class 92 Pack 01 = EWS Class 92 Loco Add-On
Steam Class 378 Pack 01 = London Overground Class 378 Capitalstar EMU Add-On
.
The Armstrong Powerhouse Class 350 Enhancement Pack does indeed include the LNWR version.
You will also require the Portsmouth Direct Line: London Waterloo – Portsmouth Route Add-On from Steam for the Class 350 EP.
Hi Alex55, thanks for your response. Well, that clears things up a lot. Assuming the AP Class 350 includes the LNWR version, I will likely purchase it. Thanks for your help on this.
Hi Alex55 again. I do own the London Waterloo-Portsmouth route, but I’m not sure what you mean by, ‘Add on from Steam for the Class 350EP. I have searched the Steam store, and I can’t find that EMU/DMU? Once again, sorry, but please clarify.
Hi Alex55 again. I do own the Steam Class 350 Desiro EMU, is that what you are referring to?
Hi Alex55, sorry to keep ‘bugging’ you, but looking at the AP website for the Class 350 Enhancement Pack, it doesn’t specifically mention the LNWR livery. It does show in the video, the 7 liveries available, but I have no idea what the LNWR livery looks like, as they are not titled. The total cost of this EP is $18.12 CDN, not too bad, but once again, and I apologize for doubting your word, but are you sure it comes with the LNWR livery?
Now you’re getting me confused 🙂
.
The “Portsmouth Direct Line: London Waterloo – Portsmouth Route Add-On” is the full title of the DLC as it appears on the Steam website.
.
The Class 350 EP (Class 350 Enhancement Pack) is available from Armstrong Powerhouse. A photograph of each livery in the Class 350 Enhancement Pack is included in the Manual which can be downloaded from the Armstrong Powerhouse website prior to purchase.
.
The “Class 350 Desiro EMU” is included in the “WCML Trent Valley Route Add-On”, but is not required for the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 350 Enhancement Pack.
Hi Alex55, I am sorry, I didn’t realize I could download the manual for the class 350 EP, from Armstrong Powerhouse. I have since done so, and it clearly indicates that the LNWR livery is included. Thank you for your help with this, and I will be purchasing the AP 350 EP today.
confused after reading this as I have the class 66 EWS and the class freightliner so have 2 packs out of 3 for the 66. But what pack is it that I am missing pack 1 or 2? (as it says in the requirements class 66 packs 1, 2, 3
so I know which one to get.
If you have the Class 66 EWS and Freightliner versions, I should imagine that it’s the “Powerhaul Class 66 V2.0 Loco Add-On” that you are missing.
This just gets better and better. I hadn’t done much with the route since V4 and I’m blown away by how good it’s looking. Thanks for your continued efforts Alex. I see BA have registered all of their Birmingham-based A320s G-ALEX in recognition of what you’ve done – richly deserved! 🙂
there seems to be echoing like as if your in a tunnel in the rugby area will there be a fix for this please.
I have had a look and apart from Rugby South Down Underpass, the track throughout the entire Rugby area is set to “Standard Ballast”, which should not produce an “echoing” sound effect.
I you could give me a more specific location, I will investigate further.
Hello, how do I turn of ai on quick drive?
AI for Quick Drives can be turned on or off by running the QD-AI-ON.bat or QD-AI-OFF.bat batch files which can be found in your Railworks/Assets folder.
Alternatively, you can remove the Preload Folder from Alex55/WCMLv5/
Ah okay thanks mate!
Hi, Do we need to uninstall V5.1 or just install over the top? couldn’t see any mention in the PDF or find and uninstall option. Thanks and keep up the great work.
No need to uninstall.
This version will safely install over the top of v5 & v5.1
I have problems with the class 66 it’s the TV class 66 i thought its alredy there can you help me please?
I’m not altogether sure what your problem is.
For some scenarios, you will also need the DPS Class66 WCMLTV FL reskin.
The link to the DPS site is in the Scenario Requirements PDF.
If this doesn’t help, could you be more specific about the problem.
So I noticed this route was recently updated but unfortunately didn’t have all the dlc required (everything but the Woodhead Route). Me being me thought ‘Sod it – lets download it anyway and see what happens’. Did I regret this decision? Hell No!
I started by selecting a quick drive from Euston to New Street. Route loaded up fine so I fired up the Class 800 and off we went. Some tunnel interiors were missing along with some embankments (unable to really notice from cab view) and again some bridge fronts were missing (probably due to me not having all the required dlc) however the rest of the route ran like a dream. AI traffic all over the show as I sped up the WCML as happy as Larry!.
Even stopped off at Birmingham International to view some take-off and landings. Then gave the old Concorde a Hi-5 and headed back on up to New Street.
In all an absolutely stunning route. A big thanks to all those responsible in bringing this truly wonderful experience to each and every one of us. Thanks also to this fantastic website in making it available for us to download.
Tunnel walls are created during the installation of v5.2 using components from the Woodhead line.
If you installed the Woodhead route AFTER installing v5.2, you should reinstall v5.2 and the missing tunnel walls will appear as if by magic.
