MLA wagons are mostly used for the transportation of ballast and other fine materials. The first 140 built were constructed for use on GBRf’s track renewal contract, carried out on behalf on Metronet (now part of LU). Since completion of the contract, they can still be seen today, mixed in with rakes of Network Rail’s JNA fleet.
